The Chairman of the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Lauretta Onochie has been suspended by the executives of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in her ward in Delta State.
The executive of Onicha-Olona, ward 4 of Aniocha Local Government Area of Delta State alleged that there was enough evidence to show that Onochie supported the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and other PDP candidates during the February 25 and March 18 general elections.
Also, 26 out of the 27 members of the executive signed the letter of suspension.
The letter of suspension claimed that the former Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Social Media worked against the success of the party in Onicha Olona Ward 4 and beyond as evident in the loss of APC in her polling unit 8,ward 4 in all the elections, AIT News reports.
The ward executive also noted that she failed to fulfill her financial obligations to the party and had never attended any ward or local Government Area meetings or other party engagements.
Onochie’s suspension is the latest in the string of notable suspensions at ward levels across political parties.
The sacked national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Iyorchia Ayu had during the week been earlier suspended by the ward executives in Benue State before the National Working Committee later removed him.
Also, the national chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure, had been suspended by his ward executives in Edo State who also cited some infractions on his part.
