A young Nigerian barber from Benue state has been arrested by the Kano state Hisban Corps for giving his customer haircut which they say offend the Islamic faith.
It was gathered that the barber who’s name was given as Elijah Ode was arraigned on Tuesday and also remanded.
Elijah who is from Adum East, Obi Local government area of Benue state but a resident of Kano was accused of blaspheming Islam with the hair style he gave his customers.
This was made known by Benue state activists, Smith Akoko who first brought the matter to the public.
It was also revealed that Elijah who is a student was arrested last week Wednesday after two of his customers were caught with the ‘blaspheming hair style’ against Islamic religion according to Hisban corps.
Elijah who many said is exceptional with his barbing skills and well patronised by young customers was arrested after two of his customers were caught with the hair style and there after they were traced to Elijah’s shop.
Eyes witness says Elijah did not cut the hair to or intentionally did it to provoke any body or spike religion crisis.
However, one of Elijah’s cousin, Sunday Ukenya, who confirmed the incident to Akoko, said the Hisban corps arraigned Elijah in court on Tuesday, February 2, and thereafter he was remanded in prison.
However, it is not known yet when his trail would resume, but till then, he will still be in prison.

“The case is already in the court of law at the wish of the aggrieved Muslims with the first session heard yesterday. But all efforts by the young barber’s lawyer to bail him proved abortive because of the claim that it is a major case and therefore not bailable.
“At the moment, the family has run out of hope, soliciting intercessory prayers as the reality of incarceration stares Elijah in the face.”
