The Story of a lady who killed her boyfriend in Benue state days ago generate a lot of debate online as to why someone would set her boyfriend ablaze and make him die in a painful manner.
It is often advised that anger if not properly contained can lead to disaster which may have a long lasting effect in the society for long in the aftermath of whatever it would bring and such is the story of Esther, a 17 year old who set her boyfriend ablaze due to unresolved differences between them.
According to Esther, she and the victim known as chidinma were lovers and she later got pregnant for him. Before getting pregnant for him, she was a virgin and the duo had to take a blood oath before they started getting Intimate claiming that his boyfriend promised never to leave him and to stand by him.
However, what happened to Chioma can be seen as a case of a young girl who was naive and too young to go into a relationship hence the reason for her actions. She continued by saying that she just recently gained an admission into the Benue State University to study law.
Reading what happened to her just got me so emotional and disturbed. Esther while narrating what happened continued saying that she got pregnant for Chidinma 3 times and had to settle for abortion twice. After the second pregnancy, his boyfriend had to bring some of his family members to meet her parent after which she moved in with him.
After she moved with him, she got pregnant again the third time and of course since they were living together as there was hope that she would be allowed to give birth to that child. Things turned the other way round after chidinma started changing attitudes towards her such that sometimes he won’t come home to sleep at home despite knowing she was young and pregnant for him.
She continued by saying that she and the victim started having issues and sometimes would have to take the matter to the police station before it would be settled. The victims sister sometimes do come and fight her in the house but as she couldn’t cope with such lifestyle again, she moved out of the house after chidinma travellled to the village for the festive period.
On January 9, 2021, the boyfriend came back and started looking for her so as he couldn’t find her, he came to check on her at her parents house. When he got there, Esther said she was about going to get an item from the neighborhood when the victim saw her and started running after her shouting her name and pleading.
Chidinma pleaded and was able to persuade her to come back home. She went to the boyfriends house the second day to show him that she had accepted to forgive him so they can move on with their life.
Meanwhile, before going back to his boyfriends house, she confessed to have been scared of what the victim would do to him hence she had already bought petroleum worth of 840 Naira but kept it at the gate before entering the compound.
After getting there, the duo engaged in some conversation before chidinma forcefully had carnal knowledge of her and they both eventually slept off.
The ugly incident happened after esther woke up at a point, proceed to where she kept the fuel she bought earlier and had to pour it in the room where chidinma was still sleeping. She lit the matches and set the room ablaze while she ran out naked leading to the death of her boyfriend.
This case can be seen as one which would have been averted if proper measure had teen taken because the young lady was unable to handle the kind of frustration that comes wirh moving in with a man at an early stage thereby making him commit such a murder.
